Two Pacific Northwest National Laboratory craft employees were offloading a 625-pound Stirling Ultracold freezer within the loading dock area of the Biological Sciences Facility when one of the manufacture-supplied ramps, used for moving the freezer from off the pallet, broke causing the freezer to shift suddenly to one side. One of the employees was able to stabilize the freezer and together the two were able to safely transition the freezer to the ground without causing damage to the equipment or resulting in a staff injury. This event serves as a reminder that all employees are empowered to stop or pause work if they have a concern and/or something doesn't look or feel right. Worker safety is #1.
