On Monday July 22nd, 2019 a lightning strike ignited the Sheep Fire, the largest wildland fire in Idaho National Laboratory's history. It lasted four days and burned 112,107 acres. Most notably, no injuries were incurred to employees or response personnel and property damage was kept to a minimum throughout the event. The success of the response originated with excellent prior preparation and exemplary task execution by all responders.
