Develop engineering controls to create a barrier between the hazard and the worker. The process to reset the chiller system required personal protection equipment that increased the difficulty for the worker to access the limited space and decreased dexterity. The solution was to install a Plexiglas barrier, with insulator properties similar to Bakelite, that isolates the hazard and thus reduces the Personal Protective Equipment requirements affording more dexterity without compromising safety.
