The Savannah River Respiratory Equipment Facility evaluated a Bullard Powered Air Purifying Respirator that was continuously alarming. The battery was manufactured in April 2014 and was last tested in August 2017. The battery contacts were inspected and corrosion was discovered on one of the six electrical contacts. This type of corrosion has not seen in the past. This lessons learned is being generated to inform other users to inspect their PAPR batteries and remove any with this type of damage from service.
