A staff member was performing modifications to a work room in the Environmental Molecular Scientific Laboratory. While making markings low on the wall, the staff member sat on the edge of a wheeled cart, causing it to tip. A heavy cylinder that was sitting unsecured on the cart tipped over, striking the staff member's back before falling onto the floor. The staff member was unhurt and immediately notified his supervisor, who called PNNL's Single Point of Contact. Lessons Learned: Inspect for and remove hazards from an area before you begin work. Secure loads and equipment if you are going to leave them unattended. If something unexpected occurs, report it to your manager or call the Single Point of Contact.
