While performing electrical isolation of a transformer, an Electrician and a Lineman found that a 10 amp fuse was installed instead of the required 6 amp fuse bringing into question the validity of the associated arc flash calculation used to support the Electrical Hazards Evaluation. Information required for the development of the Electrical Hazard Evaluation is obtained from an arc flash calculation which utilizes the primary fuse size and type as well as transformer data. If the primary fuse is used as the protective device for the arc flash calculations at a particular work location, the validity of the arc flash calculation is called into question if the incorrect fuse size was used.
