A delivery truck driver was closing the hood of his truck, preparing to enter the Advanced Test Reactor Complex at Idaho National Laboratory through the Vehicle Monitoring Facility, when he was struck in the back of the leg by a descending active vehicle barrier. The Security Police Officer who was processing the driver through the VMF lowered the barrier without first verifying the area around the barrier was clear of equipment and personnel. The delivery driver, employed by a vendor, suffered significant injury to his lower right leg as a result of being struck by the barrier.
