This report contains information concerning the use of Radiation Safety glasses to provide increased protection to the lens of the eyes from beta radiation exposure. SRR benchmarked and tested various types of safety glasses in order to find safety glasses that would provide increased protection to the lens of the eyes for beta radiation, specifically from cesium-137 and Strontium/Yttrium-90 sources. The Kemper Radiation Safety type glasses, Kemper Medical, Inc. Model 206 Economy Radiation Protection Glasses, that were tested provided a beta radiation exposure reduction factor of 1000 as compared to the Savannah River Site standard issued safety glasses that previously provided a beta radiation exposure reduction factor of 5.
