Electricity is the most versatile source of energy we use. Since we can't easily sense when equipment is energized, a moment's distraction or inattention can have serious consequences. Awareness created from recent events, a questioning attitude, and innovative thinking found an alternative method to complete a switchgear replacement at Idaho National Laboratory. The several organizations (stakeholders) involved in looking at the project from multiple angles revealed an approach that dramatically improved safety while simultaneously speeding up scope execution.
