During work planning to perform troubleshooting and maintenance on sump pumps, a project identified the loss of inventory control of the spare parts needed to perform the task. The missing spare parts were not relocated to a recently acquired warehouse as they should have been due to a previous maintenance evolution. Because the parts were not warehoused, they were inadvertently collected during a recent clean-up/recycle material collection effort. Lessons Learned: To maintain traceability of critical mission spare parts, ensure that program procedures include guidance and acceptance criteria for the return of unused parts."
