Have a storyline. Know your "ask". Don't talk to your poster...or your laptop.

These are just some of the tips - and pitfalls - demonstrated in the PNNL video, "Pitches: From Ugh to Wow." This four-and-a-half-minute video is designed for researchers and others who exhibit technologies at trade shows, conferences, and the like.

Dr. Jennifer Lee, a PNNL Commercialization Manager in Technology Deployment & Outreach, demonstrates how to give a pitch at a booth when approached by someone from industry-as well as showing what not to do. You'll see some humorous examples of complicating the message: Did she just call a pencil a graphic communication instrument? You'll also see tips for making important connections with potential partners.
