On November 3, 2016 at 11:30 a.m., SLAC deployed a software update for SLAC security gate access badge readers. The software update reflected recent changes in SLACs general ES&H orientation training. Shortly after the deployment, employees, users, and contractors found that their SLAC badges no longer worked in the sites gate access badge-readers. Upon discovery of the problem, SLAC security personnel were deployed around the site to assist personnel with gate access. The cause of the problem was promptly identified and corrected with normal badge reader access resumed by 1:20 p.m.
