Following nightly routine security rounds, a security officer accidentally left a recently used halogen spotlight (3,000,000 candlepower) on the front seat of a government security vehicle. The officer completed his assigned rounds and parked the vehicle just outside the security guardhouse. Approximately an hour and a half later another officer observed smoke emitting from the parked security vehicle. The on-duty security sergeant was immediately notified and responded to the vehicle with a fire extinguisher in hand. The officer opened the door and observed a halogen spotlight partially melted to a clipboard and approximately 3 inches into the seat.
