Experienced and knowledgeable employees became distracted by work scope changes, which resulted in relocating a vehicle before being configured for travel. During relocation, the vehicle passed beneath two electrical power lines with the mast elevated, encroaching upon the limited approach boundary on both occasions. Upon discovery, the operator immediately notified management and all work was stopped. The vehicle did not contact the overhead power lines. Additionally, there were no personal injuries or equipment damage.
Lesson Learned: Even the most skilled and knowledgeable workers can become victims of distraction. Maintaining situational awareness is crucial to the safe completion of work.
