On September 23, 2015, it was determined by an INL Waste Certification Official and disclosed to BEA management and DOE that three previous waste shipments sent to the Nevada National Security Site were non-compliant. On October 7, 2015, the National Nuclear Security Administration Nevada Field Office suspended Idaho National Laboratory from disposing waste at the Nevada National Security Site. This article discusses the issues and what was learned from the event.
