The effect of a glovebox temperature and chemical environment on O-rings should be considered when using the Central Research Laboratories Push-Through Glove System. This consideration was brought to light recently during a recent event at Los Alamos National Laboratory in which the glovebox temperature and chemical environment appeared to have caused degradation of Buna-N (nitrile rubber) O-rings at LANL Technical Area 55. These O-rings serve as a seal between the GB glove and the GB gloveport.
