On April 8, 2014, a worker placed the left hand on open bottom drawer edge of a GSA approved Mosler Safe while pulling drawer above open. The left index finger was caught between the two drawers. The result was the traumatic removal of entire nail of the left index finger. The worker contacted management, management contacted the safety engineer, and the worker was taken to medical.

Lessons Learned: Like file cabinets, opening/closing safe drawers is considered a life skill and it is easy to become complacent to the potential for injury when you are opening/closing the drawers frequently.
