On February 25, 2014, a worker experienced what was believed to be a battery failure when the Bullard Powered Air-Purifying Respirator (PAPR) stopped operating during use. The worker was wearing a Bullard EVA PAPR equipped with a combination organic vapor, acid gas, high efficiency particulate air filter. Workers should be aware that when using the Bullard PAPR with combination filter the expected battery life will be reduced. Battery life is 4 to 8 hours, at a minimum, depending upon factors such as speed selected, cartridge selected and filter loading.
