On May 30, 2013, at the East Tennessee Technology Park a Transportation employee was sprayed with liquid coolant contained within a 55-gallon drum that had developed a leak along a seam during work operations for securing the drum on the transport truck for transportation and disposal. Lessons Learned: Utilization of legacy containers to ship waste without a complete pedigree and thorough internal/external inspection can result in increased failure rates due to unverifiable degradation of the container integrity.
