Employees should remain diligent during work efforts to look for changes in work or site conditions that could potentially impact work activities or introduce new hazards. While dismantling a piece of process equipment for disposal employees discovered a different than expected insulation panel (metal-enclosed panel) that containeded a visually different type of insulation. Work was stopped until the newly-discovered material could be tested to determine if it contained asbestos. Test results revealed that the insulation material to be asbestos-containing material (ACM - 10% amosite).
