As part of demolition of the 100KW reactor, the High-Lift Pump Assemblies were removed from the facility. The rotors had been separated from the pump assemblies and were being prepared for shipment. Workers identified an unknown white, powdery material during preparation of electric motor windings for shipment to ERDF and questioned whether the material may contain asbestos. An asbestos fiber was identified in a sample of woven insulating material on the wiring.
